Thistle Complete Fit Out of Asco World Headquarters

Thistle Systems’ Corporate Interiors division has demonstrated its flexibility in office interiors fit outs by completing two projects for Asco, one of the leading providers of supply chain solutions for the oil and gas industry.

Both projects were located at Asco’s world headquarters in Aberdeen and saw Thistle complete the fit out of an entire floor which the company let out to tenants, followed by the refurbishment of Asco’s executive suite for its board of directors.

In the first instance, Thistle were appointed to complete the fit out of the 3rd floor which the company lets out with a specification that was focused on delivering a practical yet professional office environment.

Working in conjunction with Artemis Architects Ltd in East Kilbride, who were responsible for the design and overall management of both projects, Thistle Systems fitted out the 820 square metre area with eight offices, a conference room with AV wall, a kitchen area, a publication library plus a large open plan office area.

To create the individual offices Thistle installed full height glass partitions to provide the feeling of light and space with integrated privacy blinds.

A key factor in the management of the project was working with the architect, Asco as the client and Asco’s tenant to achieve the finishing touches of décor and carpets.

After being impressed with the level of quality of finish and service delivered in the initial project, Asco appointed Thistle to carry out the refurbishment of its executive suites and main office area.

The specification if this area differed greatly from the initial contractas this was the area that would see Asco welcoming senior directors of some of the largest oil companies from around the world.

Artemis Architect Ltd’s Principal, Andrew McLarty, said “It was vital that the executive suite and office area created an environment that not only reflected Asco’s position in the market but also provided the fine balance of quality, professionalism and efficiency that is demanded in the oil and gas industry.”

The entrance to the executive office area is set off with a combination of American Black walnut doors and finishings, a striking glass wall around the lift area, feature blue LED lighting and stainless steel surrounds.

The American Black Walnut finish is carried through into the executive suite with full height door sets and faceted glazed walls to create stunning offices that the Directors can be proud of.

Working with guidance from the architect, Thistle were responsible for sourcing and supplying all the furniture and finishings including the wall decorations and floor coverings as well as the specification of the boardroom furniture and bespoke desks to co-ordinate with the walnut finishings.

Andrew McLarty continued, “Thistle’s experience in managing projects of this scale and specification was clear to see. With an incredibly tight deadline enforced on us by an impending visit of a key client, Thistle were able to work with the specification to bring a project of this magnitude in on time and to exceedingly high standards.

Thistle’s project manager, Paul Hayes, added, “With only four weeks from appointment to final sign off, Asco’s executive office area was one of the most challenging projects we have carried out in recent months, particularly as it involved high specifications such as bespoke lighting, designer wall paper and carpets.”

He continued, “It is a testament to the commitment of our entire team from the installation teams to our supply chain that we were able to bring the whole project in on time, within budget and with a very happy client.”
