Thistle Deliver Storage Solution for Chill Store
Thistle Systems Group has used a combination of static racking and push back racking to transform an under-utilised chill store into a high performance storage system featuring no fewer than 126 pallet bays for Highland Meats in their Aberdeen processing facility.
Faced with an extremely tight space, Thistle's project team worked to millimetre tolerances to squeeze in as much capacity as possible by installing two blocks of 2-deep push back racking creating 72 pallet bays with a series of 3 levels of static pallet racking systems.
Thistle's Project Manager, Jim Young, explained "After carrying out a full site survey and discussing the day to day operations of the company and how it used the storage facility, we decided on a 2-deep push back racking solution that would maximise capacity whilst causing no compromise on accessibility."
He continued, "This was a particularly challenging job for no other reason than we wanted to provide the client with as much storage capacity as we could physically fit in. We even had the roof of the chill store raised by half a metre so that we could add an extra level of racking to all areas and add an extra 30% capacity."
