Packaging Company Turns to Thistle After Second Hand Racking Let Down
A packaging company who had bought second hand racking in an attempt to cut costs has seen the error of its ways and decided against using it again in the next phase of its expansion, despite the current economic climate.
The company was looking at all options to reduce expenditure and saw second hand racking as a means of achieving additional storage capacity on a shoestring budget. But when the racking arrived, the management team felt sorely let down by what they described as simply inferior equipment.
With an increasing focus on health and safety and armed with our white paper on the Dangers of Second Hand Racking, the management team decided that the only way to go was to purchase new equipment that was designed and specified for their use.
Thistle Systems' Project Manager, Alan Scott, explained "Unless you know the entire history of the equipment you are buying, second hand racking is a dangerous game to play which can really only be compared to Russian Roulette."
He continued, "You may be able to save a few pounds in the short term, but the potential costs associated with health and safety issues that may arise due to faulty equipment could be catastrophic, not to mention the problems that arise when you try to add additional equipment."
Thistle designed and installed a racking solution that featured and additional 140 pallet positions
Such was the success of Thistle's installation that the company recommended them to two neighbouring companies who went on to enjoy the superior quality of products and service that Thistle's project team offered.
