Size Matters

To prove that size matters, Thistle Storage Systems has designed, specified and installed this 1068 bay pallet racking system for Geodis, one of the world’s leading supply chain solutions providers, in one of their UK depots.

The brief was to design a system that would accommodate a minimum of 1000 timber pallets measuring 1200mm x 1000mm and each capable of holding 1 tonne.

Working within the confines of a given area, Thistle project management team developed a solution that maximized the pitch of the room with a 6-high racking system with double sided entry in the centre of the building scaling to 5-high at the eaves with single sided racks.

To maximize the floor area, we proposed a narrow aisle system with a forklift truck that could operate in a 1.9 metre aisle as opposed to the traditional 3 metre wide requirement that Geodis currently had in place.
