Thistle's House of Style
Thistle Systems has demonstrated the level of finish mezzanine floors can achieve with a with a spectacular 9600 sq ft installation in the House of Bruar in Perthshire to create a new retail area with storage facilities above.
Thistle designed and installed the mezzanine floor to the high specifications required in such a prestigious retail establishment and completed the project in a very demanding timetable.
As well as overseeing all works from structural certification through to installation of the floor, Thistle's project team worked closely with electrical and air conditioning contractor to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
A key feature in the design of the mezzanine floor is the expansive 9 metre x 9.5 metre grid section that was used to minimise the number of columns encroaching the retail area.
Thistle systems' Project Manager, John Balfour, explained "This was a great example of what can be achieved when we are brought in at an early stage. The large grid section combined with plasterboard ceiling and a 1 in 350 deflection demanded large steel sections which had a major impact on the concrete pads that were required."
By identifying these critical requirements early in the build process Thistle's design team were able to avoid the client from incurring costly additional groundworks and keep the project on its tight schedule.
John continued, "The quality of the end result rivals any fixed structure however the mezzanine floor not only provided the client with cost savings of up to 25%, it also gives them the opportunity to easily reconfigure the area in the future."
