Thistle Install Mezzanine in South Lanarkshire College
Thistle Storage Solutions has reinforced its position as one of the UK's market leaders in storage solutions for the Education Sector by installing a 50 square metre mezzanine floor for South Lanarkshire College.
The contract was awarded to Thistle following on from their successful installation of shelving, pallet racking and cantilever racking in their construction faculty where the Thistle team had demonstrated their unique approach to storage solutions.
Working closely with the South Lanarkshire College team, Thistle's project team designed the mezzanine which was intended as a secondary storage for students project work, with external specification galvanized steel to ensure a highly robust and durable structure for the environment.
The floor used open grid mesh decking to provide a strong platform for storage but also ensured a bright working area at all levels.
The mezzanine also feature a steel access staircase and an up and over pallet gate for safe and easy storage of larger items.
A key concern in the design was the safety implications from storing a wide variety of free standing items and the risk of items falling. To prevent this, Thistle designed custom mesh safety panels which were fitted around the entire perimeter of the storage area and up the staircase.
Thistle's Sales Director, Alan Scott, said "More of our clients recognise that a mezzanine floor is not just a steel structural. It must be carefully thought out in terms of how it will be used, what is being stored and what is the best and most economical method of maximising space. "
He continued, " Our experience and expertise in both space planning, storage solutions and interior fit outs enables us to provide clients with a unique approach to mezzanine floors to ensure that they are getting exactly what they want - and sometimes a little more in terms of space and efficiency."
