Thistle Install Major Mobile Shelving System for HBOS

Thistle Systems has reinforced its position as one of the UK's leading suppliers of record storage systems by developing an innovative mobile shelving solution for HBOS with the capacity for almost 6000 archive storage boxes.

The Thistle team had the brief of maximising the capacity of the records being stored whilst developing a solution that provided the required level of accessibility and worked within an awkward space that featured structural columns, air conditioning ducts and varying ceiling levels.

Using the company's unrivalled expertise and experience in record storage, Thistle designed a system that used 2 heights of shelving bays and incorporated 4 rows of static shelving across the 17 metre length of the area to increase accessibility and work within the structural elements.

And as with every mobile shelving system manufactured and installed by Thistle Systems, the solution featured a unique in-track anti-tip system that prevents the need for unsightly overhead guides used by some manufacturers that would have impacted on the capacity of the overall solution.

Thistle's Sales Director, Alan Scott, explained "This challenging project was one that we really enjoyed getting our teeth into. The unusual nature of the area meant that we had to stagger the shelving bays to work within the structural support and vary the height of each bay to maximise the capacity."

He continued, "Whilst we are regularly called upon to tackle large scale systems such as this one for HBOS,  delivering solutions for smaller areas can often prove just as testing.
