Thistle Hit the Heights of Medical Records Storage

Thistle Storage Equipment has taken the storage of medical records to a new level for NHS Lothian and Borders with the design and installation of a 3 tier shelving installation with a capacity of over 5600 linear metres.

The project has seen Thistle transform a dilapidated boiler house into a stunning storage facility which features a self contained structure that required no additional steelwork with the shelving frames supporting the open mesh walkways and 2 stairways to access all levels.

As well as the design and construction of the storage system, Thistle demonstrated its expertise in managing large scale projects by taking responsibility for the pre-works, making good the entire area prior to the installation and overseeing the finishing touches that included the lighting and lift installation.

Our design team identified a number of potential problems caused by service ducts in the floor and incorporated structural steelwork and durbar plates across the effected areas to allow for the point loads imposed by the shelving.”
